Coaching Agreement


We have positive expectations for a coaching relationship that helps you to create the life YOU want to live. To partner together professionally, we want you to be familiar with the following guidelines.



Terms of Coaching:


We invite you to think of Coaching as a process. Many people create change for themselves in a short time. However, to refine and sustain the change takes several months. Although not binding, we would ask that you expect our Coaching relationship to last at least 3 months.



Fees:


Our Coaching fee is payable to ''Concepts That Work''. If you pay by credit card, you will be placed on a monthly subscription. There is no commitment beyond month to month, but please give us a few weeks' notice if you think you will be ending our coaching together.



Please note that a ''month'' may not always correspond to a calendar month, but refers to one set of coaching, that usually takes about a month to complete. Your monthly coaching includes: 4 scheduled calls per month (or other call frequency per special arrangement), each for 30 to 45 minutes,(generally, sessions are held once per week), unlimited e-mails between sessions; and unlimited short (5-10 minute) calls as needed to report emergent problems or successes. Please email and let us know when to call you if you have some news. You can also call us at 858-237-9487, but sometimes you will get a machine, as we are frequently busy with calls! Email is often the fastest way to reach us, as we check it frequently in between calls.



Procedure:


We will call you at the specified time, unless we make other arrangements. If you are expecting a call and we don't call, please allow five minutes, then you call us. If you wish to connect with us in between sessions with a challenge, a success or an inquiry, we will make every attempt to respond to your e-mail within 24 hours, with an email or short phone call at your discretion. We are happy to provide this extra level of service at no additional charge.



Changes:


If you need to reschedule our appointment, please give me 24 hours notice. If you have an emergency or illness, you can reschedule with less than 24 hours notice. If you do not show up for a scheduled call, for any reason, and provide no notice (latest notice can be five minutes past scheduled session start time), we will not make up that time. If we need to reschedule, we will give you at least 24 hours notice as well, barring an emergency or illness.



Problems:


If we ever say or do anything that upsets you or doesn't feel right, please bring it to our attention immediately so that we can resolve it as soon as possible. Our objective is to have a coaching relationship that is fully open, honest, real and trusting in our communication styles. We should both realize that communication via telephone or email entails extra challenges since we can not see body language, facial expressions, etc. Therefore we give each other plenty of latitude, and promptly ask for clarification if there is a mis-connection.



Coaching Agreement


We agree to serve as your Coach - to partner with you to identify and achieve your personal and/or professional goals.



We cannot ''guarantee'' results. It is YOU who will create powerful results by having the courage and determination to forward the action in your life.



During the time we spend together in our coaching sessions, we will devote our time, thoughts, and energy to you, exclusively. In between our sessions, we may not be instantly available, as we may be attending to others, or ourselves. We will however, always attempt to be available within 24 hours.



We are not psychotherapists or physicians, and we are not trained in diagnosing psychological or medical conditions. If any issues come up for you that should be handled by a licensed therapist or physician, we insist that you must attend to your health by contacting the appropriate professional.



We will bring attentive listening, understanding, belief in you and commitment to your success. You can expect us to challenge you, offer fresh perspectives, make requests (including assigning homework), acknowledge your wins, and guarantee utmost confidentiality (to the fullest extent of the law, and so long as we don't fear for your or another's safety) in the powerful, sacred relationship.



We will maintain high standards of competence in their work.



We will represent ourselves in an honest and fair manner, being cognizant of our particular competencies and limitations.



We are very aware of our own belief systems, values, needs, and limitations and the effect of these on our work. To the extent feasible, We will attempt to clarify for relevant parties the roles they are performing and to function appropriately in accordance with those roles.



We will uphold standards of ethical conduct that reflect well on us and the profession at large.



You will be treated with dignity and respect being aware of cultural differences, and the right to autonomy, privacy, and confidentiality.



We accord appropriate respect to the fundamental rights, dignity, and worth of all people. We respect the rights of individuals to privacy, confidentiality, self-determination, and autonomy, mindful that legal and other obligations may lead to inconsistency and conflict with the exercise of these rights. We are aware of cultural, individual, and role differences, including those due to age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, and socioeconomic status. We try to eliminate the effect on their work of biases based on these factors, and we will not knowingly participate in or condone unfair discriminatory practices.
